Subsurface: Technological advance fuels voyage to bottom of the sea

(FINANCIAL TIMES) The classic image of the offshore oil industry is a big, clunky drilling platform, looming above the restless waters of the North Sea. It is an image which is increasingly out-of-date.

These days, much of the world’s oil and gas production is hidden from view, deep below the waves, on the seafloor.
